    Perth Comic Arts Fest 2026

Always an inspiring event, the Perth Comic Arts Fest is so much fun. Seeing the work people have been putting in over the years to produce comics, graphic novels, stickers and other merch.

The collective energy is really crazy when so many creatives are in the room buzzing with excitement. I luuuv seeing how people have put together their stories, hand made zines, home-printed stickers and so much more. Just a real buzz.

There must’ve been about 100 stall holders selling and displaying their work. Perth def. has some seriously talented artists that may not be doing a lot of self promotion.

I’m always surprised to hear people have put years of work into something and have not yet published it online or printed it.

Would’ve been good to see more of our Indigenous artists represented. I’m looking forward to seeing more work in 2027, maybe it’s time I take my own advice and print my work 😌

  • ded 💛

    ded 💛

I created a brand called ded. I always wanted to make a brand that is just for fun, so I just got started. Check my first tee on teepublic 🔗

I’ve been using redbubble and teemill for on demand tee printing, ngl they’re both not amazing for two reasons.

teemill, I like their shop setup and the remilled material is great, very eco. But they fade. The prints just don’t last much more than a year.

redbubble, the shirts and prints are great. They last and are comfortable. But why oh why can we still not print a different image on the front and back?

So that brings me to teepublic. Easy shop setup, flexible design tools and the materials look good. I’m testing them out by ordering a few samples.

Anyway, ded 💛 is here 😂

Art exhibition at St George’s Cathedral

On the weekend I went to see my son’s painting in St George’s Cathedral in Boorloo. I’ve seen his painting so I know it well, and the plan was to quickly check it out and also the level of art from the other students.

But I ended up staying over an hour and getting blown away by the general quality level of all of the art and the crazy building that is the cathedral.

If you get a chance, visit the exhibition of the senior art students. There’s some amazing work.

And at the same time check some of the details of the cathedral, I’ll be going back to learn more.

  • Two great things in life

    Two great things in life

We have the capacity to contribute good to the world on a daily basis and
amongst all of the bustle of life’s journey, I think there are two really great
things we can achieve as humans on this planet. Not all of us are able or
    want to, but these two are special;

    Create a human life
If it’s what’s lined up for you in life, creating another human being that will live on and contribute to the betterment of the world is a wonderful thing. It may be the best thing you will ever do on this planet.

    Save a life
If you happen to be in the situation where it’s required, where you have the skills and someone is in need of help – save someone’s life. It may be that you redirect someone away from danger, warn them, physically drag them out of it, or otherwise – but do it. Save their life so that they can live on and better the world. We never know what that person will become, achieve or effect in the world in the future.

A while back my team and I made a thing, it teaches you first aid skills and it might help you save a life. It was the precursor to the current set of online first aid courses available at St John WA. More info: https://stjohnwa.com.au/first-aid-

  • Gifting your energy

    Gifting your energy

You can gift your energy to others and there’s lots of ways to do it.

And you can send it right across the world.

One of my favourites, is the energy blast at the end of a phone call.

The way I do it is, get all of your talking out of the way.

Then slow the pace and energy of your goodbye down, then just before you hang up ..

Give them a blast by saying something like, “okay let’s grab that coffee and let’s gooooo babeee!”

The pick me up energy lifts the other person back up and connects the energy with their next action.

Other ways are, a randomly timed txt with an uplifting message.

I send drawings, it’s a surprise and a thought provoker.

Random is good timing. Most people like to know you are in their thoughts.

Smile at a stranger in the shop. I love doing this one too.

The energy a smile can transfer is crazy.

If you lock eyes with someone and the vibe is right, flash them your biggest smile.

It’s the best. I’ve literally had my mood lifted and day made by someone doing this.

Gift your energy. You might make someone’s day or week.
